Uomini appiattiti a sagome su uno sfondo crepuscolare, oscure presenze che si mostrano nello svolgere la loro unica azione: costruire.
La città che sale, video composto da riprese unicamente girate in centri urbani, è il ritratto di un’inerzia.
Il titolo fa riferimento al famoso quadro di Boccioni, in cui la dinamica dei cantieri edili compie la celebrazione dell'idea di progresso e descrive la costruzione della città come un rito frenetico che coniuga l'uomo e la tecnica.
In La città che sale invece, quella visione trionfalistica del lavoro evapora, per approdare ad un homo faber dall'identità ambigua, dalla gestualità non più intenzionale, protesa alla realizzazione di un’idea ma presente solo per il suo svolgersi, vuota.
Il gesto del costruire si reitera ed isola avvicinandosi ai tratti tipici di un’azione catartica, una preghiera. Come una preghiera si rigenera attraverso la speranza, quella di una apparizione, una redenzione, una alternativa.

“La città che sale”, a video composed of footage shot in urban centers, is a portrait of an inertia.
The title references the famous painting by Boccioni, where the dynamic of construction sites celebrates the idea of progress and describes the construction of the city as a frenzied ritual that joins man and machine.
In “La città che sale”, that triumphalist vision of work evaporates, replaced by a Homo faber with an ambiguous identity, and by gestures that are no longer intentional, that tends towards the realization of an idea but in the end, presents only its empty execution.
The act of construction is repeated and isolated, approaching a sort of catharsis, a prayer. Like a prayer, it regenerates itself through hope, an apparition, a redemption, an alternative.
